Spring 2016 Dirt

It’s spring and the various counties have re-gravelled various dirt roads.

This year, they’re apparently operating at random rather than employing last year’s Scorched Earth policy, so while some roads have gone quietly into that dark night, others have survived.

Gravel Gremlins

Ah crap! The County has unleashed their road destroying gremlins this spring. Almost all gravel roads have been “re-graded”, a process that involves taking beautifully smooth dirt with strategic potholes that slow down jerks who would barrel along at 90 kph and covering them with an even layer of big nasty gravel.

April 7, 2015 Update

Sweeny Line (hard-packed dirt between Old Norwood Rd and Division Rd) was ridden on 700cx25 tires this afternoon. No problems. Dirt’s looking very nice this spring so far, might just be smoother than the pavement on Old Norwood Rd.
